Packaging Basics

Start with the product, distribution path, and disposal route

Packaging design connects protection, manufacturing, logistics, communication, accessibility, compliance, and end-of-life considerations.

Questions to document

  • What must the package protect, and from which hazards?
  • How will it be filled, closed, stacked, shipped, opened, and stored?
  • Which labels, warnings, traceability marks, or accessibility requirements apply?
  • Can the material and format be reduced, reused, or recovered in the actual market?
  • Which tests and approvals are required before production?

This is general guidance, not a packaging-design or production offer.
